If I have to think too much about what Art Zero was or is it defeats the purpose of the "Zero" reference to zero mind.
So without thinking to much about it, Art Zero endured the economic crunch that closed galleries, by expanding opportunities for local artists. Art Zero began as a collaboration, deeply devoted to our artistic involvement in the local and world community. By supporting and participating in various art, film, music and fundraising events; Art Zero developed a model, which was rewarded with an Art Inspires! Grant.
Founded by Hite and Hiteruo, we operated on the principal that you did not need a lot of money or to think too hard about it to produce and support the arts, you just had to do it. ART Zero became an umbrella for all our activities; Zero Effect Online Radio, Open Studios Art Tours, The Executive Art Gallery, Random Fortune Films, Random Fortune Art Donations, and Jerry Riggs Studios.
Over the years, Art Zero developed a purchasing program and curated exhibits. When the economy improved and art opportunities increased; Art Zero was no longer needed and the partners took the time to pursue their individual artistic ventures outside an office or gallery space. Art Zero and all our accomplishments exist now in the virtual world, which I continue to draw upon to pursue and support my many artistic and environmental interests. Art Zero was and is mobile and at times "Guerrilla." Art Zero is now a word that substitutes for; "I did that," "we did that" and "I'm doing this and that and you can do it too!" The model remains.
Example: a simple image chosen for a website, made it all the way to a gallery in Russia with the 59 Project. You only have to "do" and the opportunity presents itself.
